We are constantly planting seeds of thoughts in the gardens of our minds. Which of those seeds we choose to water determines the landscape of our internal world.

Our minds are magical and our words are our spells. Our minds have the power to shape our reality. The words we tell ourselves have the power to bless us or curse us. The power is ours.

The Science

Self talk is the natural cognitive process that creates the internal monologue of our minds made up of conscious and unconscious thoughts and beliefs. The way we talk to ourselves directly impacts the way we view and experience ourselves and our reality.

Thanks to modern day neuro science we now understand the power our internal dialogue has to literally rewire the function of our brain. Our brain has the amazing power to adapt to new experiences and information thanks to neuroplasticity. The brain’s neural networks are capable of changing and reorganizing based on internal and external stimuli, rewiring the brain. We have the power to change the thoughts and beliefs we have about ourselves and the world. We can train our brains to create thoughts that support our growth, create an internal sense of peace and wholeness, and to look for positive opportunities and encouragement in the world around us.

Your Mind Is A Magnet

The quality of our thoughts changes the frequency of our energy. If you think negatively you will attract negativity. If you think positively you will attract positivity. You magnetize things to you in the external world that are an energetic match for your internal world. Your brain is constantly trying to prove you right. If you tell your brain bad things always happen to you your brain will look for bad things happening to you. If you tell your brain you are lucky and that good things are always happening to you your brain will look for the reasons why you are lucky and the good things happening to you.

How We Talk To Ourselves Determines Who We Become

The philosopher René Descartes famously said “cogito ergo sum” – “I think, therefore I am”. Every time I hear this quote I am reminded of the great power our internal dialogue has in shaping who we are.

The way we think about our selves directly affects how competent and capable we believe ourselves to be. If you don’t believe you can be the person you want to be or do the things that you want to do then it is a lot less likely you will feel like it is worth it to dedicate the effort it takes to achieve those things. If you think small in life you will play small in life.

You will never have the life you dream of having if your thoughts are not in alignment with the person you need to become to have that dream life. If you believe you are capable of achieving your goals you will act like you are capable of achieving your goals.

If you believe you are the woman of your dreams, you will become the woman of your dreams.

You will fail at life, if you say so. You will win at life, if you say so.

How To Change Your Life

If you want to change your life you need to change your mind. Plant the seeds of thoughts that will support your growth and weed out the ones that will hold you back. Rewire your brain to seek out positive thoughts instead of negative ones.

Train your brain to refocus on the good in situations instead of the bad, look for the opportunities around you instead of the limitations, look for the things you like about yourself in the mirror instead of your insecurities, tell yourself how capable you are and watch yourself make choices to prove you right, and fill your mind with positivity and affirmations instead of self doubt and criticism.

Check out these affirmations I’ve been listening to below. ;)
